Nourishing Wisdom cooking series: Traditional foods for mother and baby

This series will cover the basics of sourcing and preparing nutrient-dense foods to support a woman's health and the health of her little one at any stage (pre-conception, pregnancy, breastfeeding/post-partum, and toddler). In just four lessons you will learn simple preparation and cooking techniques that will allow you to incorporate the foods your bodies need most at these important stages, with an emphasis on nourishing fats, mineral-rich broths, fermented vegetables, properly-prepared whole grains, organ meats, and raw grass-fed dairy products. Emphasis on traditional preparation methods using seasonal foods from local sustainable family farms. Weston A. Price Foundation principles incorporated throughout.

Each lesson includes plenty of ideas for feeding hungry little ones while you feed yourself. Lessons are interactive and hands-on with practical tips, recipes, and food samples galore! Special suggestions for pregnant and breastfeeding women are offered as part of each lesson, as well as ideas for transitioning babies to solid foods.

A four-part series to be held on Wednesday evenings in January, 2010. Please email Nourishing Our Children-NYC group coordinator Hannah Springer (Hannah@EarthBodyBalance.com) or call her at (718) 490-2839.
